Two large kingdoms exist in Realmshaper, the kingdom of Riverwind, who controls the eastern realms, and the kingdom of Sentari, who controls the western realms, constantly at war with each other. Why has been long forgotten, all that remains is strife over land and conflict, and ancient grudges. The central regions of the continent and their resources were fought over for hundreds of years, neither side managing to control it long enough over the other due to the size of the regions, resulting in a stalemate where both kingdoms erected keeps, smaller cities and outposts on each side of the regions.

The concept of the game is simple yet complicated. You are free to follow the main storyline if you wish, which in no way limits you to do other things. The main storyline mainly revolves around you helping Riverwind perform various tasks and advancing your career within the military. This means that if you wish to help defend the realm and follow the main storyline there will be plenty of immersing options, events and storylines/questlines to do so.

Following that note, should you wish to play a solo oriented type of game that will be fully functional and possible as well. . The way I see it you can play a traditional online rpg in a few ways:

All in all I want the player to decide for themselves if they want to become a notorious ganker, find a fun guild and explore dungeons, or perform their best at repelling the Sentari forces. You get the point.

Why this works so well is because the main enemy of the game will serve several functions

Solo quest material - Doing investigations, infiltrating and various covert missions.

Group play material - Overthrow enemy camps and settlements, these places will require a team setup with a healer and contributing damage of several players. Not solo-able at levels lower or equal to monsters.

Dungeon material - Take back strongholds and towns/areas that has been overtaken by the enemy force

Other than that, there is plenty of content unrelated to the main storyline, and the Sentari overall won't make a big presence early on, since you start out in the eastern realms.

Update as of 6/1 -20

While there is still a lot to do, a testing phase for the current content is not far away.

I've mostly been doing non-visual developing. The current goal is to do what I did previously and do a testing phase to balance out the current content. What is taking up a lot of my time is the ground work that I want to complete first. Meaning creating pixel art, making paperdolls, creating spells/skills and animations, planning up to later phases etc, so that once all of that is complete I can just map and do regular developing for future content.

Currently all of the maps, quests, npcs and so on is (almost) complete regarding a testing phase, but as I said, there's a few things missing such as paperdolls.

The first testing phase I would like to do in 1 or 2 months, perhaps sooner.

A few things to look at for those interested

Some custom pixel art

Pixelart 100% zoom:

And a few maps

While this is not really news worthy, I wanted to at least post something, since i created the thread quite some time ago and have yet to post any updates.

Will update with more later!

Hello everybody, short update today.

Simply wanted to let you all know development has been going really great, made good progress since my last update. And that I want it to be as polished as possible for the first phase, so I will do my best to have something ready in march.

Hopefully the next update post will be about a release date for the alpha test.

And as always, I won't post an update without a map teaser:

In the next few weeks I intend to post a more thorough list regarding features and such, but until then, please enjoy a very short and simple trailer showcasing a few maps, which might be more interesting than a few still screenshots.

The scene where you need the torch is sick.

Hello everybody! I have barely had time to work on my project for a while. Progress has been slow due to a combination of work and IRL events.

I have not abandoned anything, but the date for an alpha test will have to be pushed back. I will post more details as soon as I can.

Hello everybody!

Project is still ongoing. Last post was about having a testing phase soon. That didn't happen.

I have however been steadily working, sometimes more sometimes less. Now that summer is over and autumn is here I intend to speed up developing and do the last parts before I can let people test my project.

I do not like setting dates for things like this, because I might have to rush content to meet the date. So instead I'll just say I hope to be able to release something before 2020 is over.

Thanks for reading and for anyone interested stay tuned!

Hello everybody!

Just a short update today,

Much progress has been made since my last post. The first zone and (just about) everything related to it is finished. Currently working on finishing the region capital (see screenshot 5 & 6), which is quite massive. Next after that I will be finishing the second zone (see screenshot 2 & 3). This means presenting something playable before 2021 is definitely doable.

Once these parts are completed I intend to proceed with the first phase of testing.

The project is progressing nicely.

You might have noticed I changed the project name, I felt this was more interesting and offers more possibilities than the previous title. But knowing myself, I might change it up again before release :D

On to actual progress,

Everything is pretty much ready to begin a testing phase soon. The first zone of the game is finished, and the second zone is also pretty much finished except for a few key elements like obtainable items, craftable items, a few NPCs, some shops, a questline for each of the classes to obtain key spells/abilities, and some switches, GFX, connecting resources and item reagents to crafting and professions etc.

If I were to put it into a timespan, I would say within a month, month a half maybe, maybe even earlier.

I hope some of you are looking forward to it, I know I am!

Oh and here is the new login screen, what do you all think? A bit simple, but I like it, of course inspired by the original Intersect background ;)

I would change the buttons a bit though so that it is not an exact copy of the Intersect Engine.

Thanks! I intend to make a custom GUI, but that will have to be a bit later since it will most likely take a while.

I decided to push back an alpha test from late last year to just when it's ready, I wanted to overhaul some things and rework some basic gameplay stuff, mainly because I was unable to find a programmer to do some changes to the source that I feel is essential to an MMO, so even though it will require a lot of backtracking later on to revise things into how I originally wanted it I have kept going with what's available right now.

What has been taking so long, apart from a full time job and other various obligations is because I have been adding the core elements of the game, things like crafting, items, various pixelart (NPCs, items, paperdolling them), adding all of the spells and ranks with their animations, sounds, music, graphic editing etc. And of course apart from that, making everything else related to the first two available zones. Once these things are completed and established I can focus on each new zone and the content therein, making progress much smoother and simpler.

For now I'll show some NPCs I've made, and the first zone of the game, which is fully playable when it comes to quests, dialogues, etc.

The first zone consists of ~325 outdoor maps. This is including the capital, Riverwind and excluding indoor maps, which should easily add about 100-150 more. As you can see in the capital there's some parts missing that I haven't gotten around to adding yet. The top left region is (will be) the crafting district, the bottom left is residential, the bottom right is combat/residential, and the top right is the trade district. To the west of Riverwind Fields is the second zone, Riverwind Forest. From the fields, to the east is Gloomvale, to the south is the Arid Hills, and to the north is Coldwind Pass. The territory of Riverwind consists of 7 zones (some smaller some larger) the size of Riverwind Fields, with plans to conquer and expand their territory further as you progress the story/your role.

Anyhow, here's Riverwind Fields, and three types of Goblins you will encounter there!

And then two types of goblins, and a type of tribe leader:

They still need some editing!

Zoomed 300%

Very soon I'll showcase some spells and other things!

I see what you did there :D

Otherwise it look very big ! Maybe it would look nicer with bigger patch of tree :-)

Busted :) No but really, I've played a lot of RO and I love the sprite design. I used palettes from their zombies for my own zombie for example. I also think about RO world design for my maps.

When you say bigger patch of trees you mean more trees? The zone in the screenshot is a fields type of zone, it isn't home to dense trees, the next zone is though :)

Hello everybody!

The game should be playable within a few weeks, so I am intending to do an open testing phase. But before then I would like a few people to do some closed testing for me since I am the only one who has tested the game so far. If anyone is interested please send me a PM here, or PM me on Discord: dumpsterhobo#4410. There is still a few things I need to finalize before then, closed testing is planned to begin approx 11/8.

I'm working diligently on finalizing some minor things, I will be able to begin closed testing this week, hopefully tomorrow if it's ready.

Absolutely! I do want critique. I will PM you once it's ready.
