Unanimated Sprites for Characters

Question

Posted

So, I have imported a sprite into my resources folder under entities. They look normal until I try to select them when I make a new character and load into the game. I assume they character sprites are vanished because the Engine is chopping up my 32x32 sprite into pieces to form an animation but uh... that's not working well... (I could be completely wrong).  These are the sprites : 147.png.d158e317f774accadbb7cc189f66ce7c.png144.png.83bb3f4d9c8c52c341bda7e5fc834605.png

Please let me know what I have to do to fix this.

you would have to post the full sprite sheet so we could see what's wrong with it

@MCADAMS its not much of a tile set but I really like the style. I have the entire set sliced up into 32x32 squares.

The sprites must be in this way:

@Pigot errrrmmmmmnnnnn, How would I go about doing that? They don't have any animation so it would be the same sprite over and over

@Gibier, I know. How do I make the character Sprite unanimated.

Is this character going to be NPC or is he going to be the main character?

Put these in your games entities folder to use them B)

Phen is on the right track. Just take whatever single frame you want, put it in our sprite sheet format (I know.. lammmeee) but it will work.

@jcsnider I made sure to center them for the engine as well so they work fully :P

Is there a program you used to do that or did you do it manually?

@Mapyo I did it manually however I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to write a program to do it/find one. (I couldn't do it but I'm sure someone here could)

I am sure you have your reasons but I really don't understand why you don't have animations or even directions. I get that its supposed to have a retro feel, it just feels odd since most game boy colour games i played as a kid had 4 dir animations :)
