Do you have huge maps full of resources and events?
My overworld always takes a bit longer to load because of that, but it takes like 15 seconds max.
I do have excellent internet though.
If that was the case JC would have released source.
Real reason is that JC has a porn downloading addiction. It's a rare fetish where he gets off on downloading any kind of porn. That's why the donation goals get higher every month, JC needs his storage space. Of course he also keeps deleting Intersect to make more space for his porn.
Even if you could hack some guild system together in the event system, it's way better to wait for source with that.
Also, while I agree a guild system is cool, there is no point to include it when you don't have the playerbase to support it.
You add in the [NAMEOFSPRITE].png for the sprite you want animated.
An animated sprite will cycle through the 'walking' sprites in your spritesheet even when standing still.
Its mostly used for flying creatures so they can flap their wings when not moving!

As per title:
What if I have an event that has a timer and the player exits the map before the timer is over. Will the event reset or will it finish the event?
Any difference in global and local events?
In B5 you could make a system like that.
If you want to do something like a farming game or something I would wait for source though.
I think it will be possible to change the weather based on seasons and stuff with the even system, but that would be a messy ordeal. (Kinda like your PK system )
