  1. Heyo. I'll get right to the point in saying Life Forge is looking for a dependable mapper. The position is currently unpaid, but if we are successful this Christmas, the position becomes paid, with said Mapper receiving a percentage of the earnings monthly. We're looking for a mapper who is skilled in the designing of maps. Someone who can take a documented idea and bring it to life in a timely fashion. This Mapper will be given a probationary period in which to establish themselves as a full member of the Life Forge team. If successful, they would be taking on the position of official mapper for Life Forge. You would be mapping out all of the game's new areas, as well as acting as a moderator in select situations. We'd like to have this position filled as soon as possible, so by the end of the week we'll be going through all submissions and selecting who we think is the best fit for us. To apply, simply sent us examples of previous works, your time zone, and a brief summary of your free time you would be willing to dedicate to Life Forge and this position. You can message me here, or on www.LifeForgeRPG.com. We look forward to working with you, whoever you are! EDIT* Thought I should give a little more info on Life Forge for peeps who don't know much about it. Life Forge is a free 2D ORPG on available on Steam. The game features over 100 hours of content, with about 1600 hours if you include the grind for absolute completion (yes, we have a player who's done this). The game features a massive world, custom artwork, unique features, and a cosmetic based payment system. We've also added Housing and Farming in one of our latest updates to Life Forge. Be sure to check it out. Thank you. Applications are due by NEXT SUNDAY - DEC 10
  2. New Sand and Lava colors for the board game. Also a new tile design that is 3 tiles high, but obviously I'm gonna have to fix something on that one haha. In Life Forge I added a 2 new mounts, some new items, and a new boss with a unique item required to reach it's lair: I also added Lord of the Rings units to the board game lol. It's very fun so far.
  3. Killing Jc was fun. 10/5 what a steal
  4. Rip my double post, but today I made one of my favorite maps/boards so far with the hex system. I call it: The Great Tree The Lego Tree is locked in place in the center with a Lego support piece that I tried to blend into the map by covering it with that Palm Tree piece.
  5. I'm in the process of designing and printing a 3D tabletop board game for my family and coworkers at Lego. My most recent addition would be the new "water" tiles that imo look gorgeous. I may in the future pitch this to my higher ups at Lego and if it doesn't take, I may end up starting a Kickstarter for distribution of the tiles (with or without studs) or the entire board game, making our own miniatures instead of using Legos. Currently the game plays similar to Heroscape of old, with some (in my mind) positive changes to the formula. I've busted out my old Lego collection and have currently designed and balanced a ton of Star Wars units. My baby bro is enjoying himself immensely haha. One of the coolest features of this design is that the tiles fit snug to eachother, even when stacking, but are easy to take apart. Also, due to the lock-in design of the tiles, once a board is complete, you can actually lift the entire thing, spin it on your finger, and place it back down to find none of the pieces have fallen off. The build is strong and durable, with even a car tire doing very little damage to the tiles when placed down, and yet remains light and unobtrusive. Needless to say if it were to fall off your table, you wouldn't need to be worried about chipping, denting, or cracking. My 7 year old brother has a blast building new maps to play on, and once I print off some more tiles, larger and more impressive boards are sure to follow. All in all, I'm having a large amount of fun on this project, and even if it goes nowhere, I'm sure my family and I will be enjoying the game throughout the holidays. Once I get a good stockpile of tiles set up, I'll be willing to sell some tiles to any tabletop/lego enthusiasts at cost of production + shipping. If you were interested, shoot me a pm in a few weeks, but really this project is mostly for my family and friends.
  6. Added a jump to my current project. Also got another job in the project that is my life lol
  7. As game designers, a surprisingly large chunk of your job is playing other games in search of inspiration and quality recognition. As such, I'll be putting together a list of games you should play! 1. Hollow Knight Frankly my favorite game released in the last decade (previously Bloodborne). Team Cherry built such an amazing experience with just 3 people, and they are selling it for $15. Playing this game will make you take a long look at the games industry as a whole. I can't gush enough about Hollow Knight. It's amazing, and with it's recent free DLC, it's only getting better. 2. Soulsborne Series I don't doubt you've heard how great these games are. If you're thinking about making a 3D game with a fluid combat system, play through Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 1 has the best level design in any game I've ever seen. Tons of stuff we can learn from From Software. 3. Enter the Gungeon Probably the most stylized, sticking-to-theme game I've ever seen, plus it's fun. Try it out if you wanna have a look at how to do Random Gen dungeons correctly. 4. Final Fantasy IX (9) Storytelling done incredibly well. Get 1 hour into this game and you'll really, REALLY want to see how it ends for all these characters. The fact that it's as old as it is only stands in credit for it's powerful storytelling. 5. Lego Worlds If you're at all looking into randomly generated content, take a good long look at Lego Worlds. 6. Shadow of Mordor/War Putting aside the greed of Warner Bro's in the most recent iteration of the Middle Earth games, the Nemesis system is incredibly put together and is worth looking at. 7. The Witcher III An open world done incredibly, almost impossibly well. A joy to play, but also a joy to learn from. 8. Stardew Valley If you need to see what polish truly looks like, Stardew Valley is one of my prime examples. 9. Depth Asymmetrical gameplay done incredibly well. Thinking about making an asymmetrical team based game? Take a look at how Depth did it. 10. Almost any IO Game A lesson in networking. Simple games, with not so simple networking magic being done behind the scenes. Take a look, and learn So those are my top 10 games for aspiring developers to take a look at and learn from. Got any you feel we can learn from? Post em below
  8. I have work today so I didn't have a whole lot of time for game dev. Today I did a nice little Oak Tree
  9. Today I'm fooling around with a new project idea. So far I've added Voxel-based collision which is far superior to mesh based collision in terms of performance. I've also added controller support, an attack combo system, and isometric view. We'll see what becomes of this.
  10. Today I got some basic server connectivity in place.
  11. My content has been deemed too negative for this venue, so I shall be removing it. I wish you all good luck in your ventures, and encourage you to branch out and try new things... Bye.

I've always been interested in taking a stab at a 3D game. Its nice to see from said single screenshot. I assume this is continuing that 3D sandbox game you were making a while back?

If I end up continuing work on it, it will be a something of a cross between FTL, Oregon Trail, and Sea of Thieves. (I think)

  13. Looks nice, but the art style of the mobs/characters clash with the map art.

  15. I believe the only difference is the inclusion of the editors in dev suite. I would not recommend using this engine, however. It has several deeply engrained issues that pop up late in the development cycle. Orake dude had paid more trying to get this heap of garbage fixed than anything else. If you're sticking with eclipse, I'd go with Skywyre and rip features you want out of Resbak. But be careful doing that even, as some of those features are broken in their own right.
  16. Damn, getting some oldies popping up in here now. Good to see you around.

  17. I thought Haiku's are supposed to be 5 / 7 / 5 in terms of Syllables per line. Or did you pull a fast one and translate it to English from Japanese?
  18. Roses, like your lips, are red. A question, begging to escape. When I take you to bed, will the curtains match the drapes? Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. jk no I won't because my life sucks right now and I work 24/7
  19. Nin Online somehow manages to stay online and they use locations straight from Naruto if I'm not mistaken. They do turn a profit and whether this is from no one reporting them or what I don't know, but I honestly wouldn't risk it. If you are set on making a Naruto game, I'd make it a free to play with no profit model. A passion project if you would.
  20. So in regards to what happened, I wanted to say a few words and to encourage others to do the same. Lumiere and I hardly ever saw each other eye to eye, yet she remains in memory one of my oldest relations on the internet. Over the years she gained my grudging respect and she made me laugh more time times than I can count. She was without a doubt one of the most interesting and talented people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She'll be greatly missed.
  21. Encryption will stop any happy go lucky "game dev" that wants to rip your graphics to use them in some half-ass project. Life Forge ORPG uses a very powerful encryption system, and 3 members from AGD alone were able to get access to our graphics when they set their minds to it. However, these members are far more advanced and competent than the mentioned "happy-go-lucky". The end result? You'll never be able to 100% protect your graphics. You WILL be able to stop most everyone stupid enough to try and steal your graphics and get away with it.
  22. http://timefantasy.net/ Should be available here.
  23. Yep. Time Fantasy and several others have no restrictive licenses with RPGMaker. Though, you may want to purchase the actual Time Fantasy package from the designers rather than RPG Maker.
