  1. You can make the weapon appear over the character using paperdolls. You add a graphic in the paperdolls folder to be rendered over each frame of your character as your character moves. In this thread you can learn how paperdolls work and how to use them: More advanced modification (aka via the source) is not permitted to be discussed until the time that the source is publicly released.
  2. (Or insert whatever holiday you recognize above :P) Hope you all enjoy the holidays and get to see family or at least take some time to relax.
  3. Map cache just lets the editor load quicker. It is not required to stay in sync it can be deleted and would be rebuilt upon next editor launch. Intersect.db is server sided and contains all needed data for your game.
  4. Thanks for taking this on House. I look forward to see what you all come up with.
  5. He makes a scary point about the field of programming eventually being regulated. If there was an entity that forced us to use specific languages, platforms, processors, processes, then a lot of us may have never gotten into this field. The freedom of programming is important. If someone told @Damian666 that he had no choice but to use a language with brackets then he'd be gone for good.
  6. Programmers rule the world. We're dangerous. We kill people. The world depends on us in ways it doesn't yet understand, and in ways we don't yet understand. These are a few of the talking points by Robert Martin (aka Uncle Bob) in the last few minutes of his talk titled "The Future of Programming". If you are interested in programming, or even if you aren't I highly recommend watching this. Share your thoughts below

    Nog.

Evan hyped up Eggnog way too much these past 10 years.... it's good... but I just tried it for the first time and it didn't live up to unreasonable expectations.
  8. Windows XP is not supported. Intersect requires .Net Framework 4.5 which Microsoft only released for Vista or later. Intersect also requires DirectX 10+ for it's lighting system. If you are crashing after logging in that might be the culprit. Outside of that you could be facing a programming bug.. there are many that we have already fixed for 2.0. Without a broken machine to play with in hand or remotely, however, there isn't much advice that we can give.
  9. No. You cannot replace a .exe while that .exe is running. The updater is part of the client. Bad design, not worth using.
  10. Not an answer, but a warning. The built in EO4 updater only updates content and can only update content so if you ever made source changes you couldn't distribute them with the built in updater. This makes the updater very, very bad by default. I had a guide on EclipseOrigins.com at one point but it was deleted. I no longer know how to use the updater. I am not sure if anyone ever actually used it or if it works lol. tl;dr: Turn around and look elsewhere quick!
  11. We need to make a list of Eclipse versions that this works with. I know it won't work for all of them.
  12. Probably an IPB bug... maybe a lot of bots scanning the site for search engines? Idk but I fixed that number 3-4 times and have since given up.
  13. I don't think you can... what if the OAuth stuff gets changed at some point? How are you going to update IPB/IPB Plugins without being able to login?
  14. I'm not sure if we want to allow this kinda stuff and that kinda stuff here or not. It is something I am going to talk to the mod team about. Regardless I made the title accurate and less clickbaity. We shall see. -JC
  15. Not possible yet We will add this functionality sometime mid/late beta for you all In the meantime you can use the screenshot buttons inside the editor to take snapshots of your game world.. just not you in the game.
  16. I think that if/when we end up with really good guides/tutorials/documentation and frequently asked questions we should be fine personally. When all of those exist we could add them to the top in the welcome new user box.
  17. By all means feel free. Please reach out to me afterward. Based on the quality we could discuss some type of payment moving forward that would work for both of us.
  18. Not sure if it's smart to announce your budget but in this case it doesn't really matter. I am the lead programmer of the Intersect engine in all of it's glory It's hard to say. Not because there is a lot to do but just because @Kibbelz and I have schedules that go from busy to free for months at a time. The last few months have sucked as far as updates have gone but this isn't the first dry stretch that we've had. (For example, sort the dev blog topics by start date and then look at there being nothing between Nov 3rd and February 2nd last year). But each dry stretch has been ended by non-stop updates for months at a time where our sole focus has been Intersect. One more sprint like that and it'd be released. I don't know about completely stable... but that is something that can be obtained with the help of the community once the source is out. I think the source is fairly well organized but that is something I am going to be working on during a refactoring phase once all of the features are done. I have been thinking lately that I could open the source to developers during that refactoring phase to help out and take suggestions, it would occur sometime as beta is ending. The roadmap is somewhat unrealistic at the moment. For example we added crafting which isn't on there. Questing is almost done. Parties are done and Trading will only take a day or two of code. If you refer to the roadmap that is 2 versions of beta that will be released in one. We have come wayyyyy too far to stop working on Intersect now. It will be completed in the near future. If for any reason we had to drop it, we would release the source in whatever state it was in. I hate giving estimates on when we will get stuff done. Over the next 8 weeks I will have 2 weeks of class, 1 week of finals, graduation, Christmas, New Years, countless job interviews, friends visiting from out of town, I'll be moving at least once, and I might actually start a new full time job. I have no idea how long most of that will take or when I will have free time in the midst of it. Kibz has school.. and a new girlfriend I can guarantee that Intersect will be done in 2017. Probably Q1... probably. Hopefully that helps you in your decision making process. Best, JC
  19. Then list them. Eclipse Worlds and Eclipse Origins does not have Click to Walk. I agree with this, somewhat. Not sure why you would use Eclipse over Orion+ unless you already have your project under development. Orion+ is an Eclipse port to a more up-to-date language and open source. If you can be a little patient then Intersect will eventually blow all of those out of the water. (It already does, it just isn't open source yet)
  20. Back it up. Show videos of all the clients in a game and active. Tell us about your user base, etc and we will accept it as valid. I find this very far fetched. Opening 30 clients on your own machine or network doesn't count. It need to be random people from around the world. Lurv was having major issues with 5-10 people online... I fixed that but the fixes have not been made public. Provide proof, else this has to be assumed false.
  21. I can't critique. I just wanna say that it's beautiful and I may have cried a little bit
  22. He has too much faith.
  23. I can update my status!
