  1. Try enabling the firewall on the router. When you check the port the Intersect server is running, correct?
  2. That's a good sign. Only 1 device makes it much less of a headache. Can you screenshot and post your firewall settings and dmz pages of your router?
  3. If your router is behind a modem that is acting like a router + firewall your router will have its own IP that isn't 24.164.2.84. Go through your router settings (WAN Setup tab maybe?) and see if you can find the ip that the modem assigned your router. Edit: I merged the posts
  4. Looks like you are right on the mark. I am just gonna blurt out a few thoughts/ideas that you might look into. Try disabling windows firewall and any antivirus programs to see if they are interfering. In some (rare) cases people will have a modem and a router which both have firewalls/port forwarding configurations. In such cases you would have to login to your modem config, port forward to your router and then port forward your router to your pc,
  5. This thread is for launcher questions/comments. For Intersect related comments please use the Q/A section instead of hijacking this thread. http://www.ascensiongamedev.com/community/forum/53-questions-and-answers/
  6. SFML is pretty good. I moved Intersect away from it to MonoGame when users with older machines (2008) couldn't handle the most basic of shaders and text rendering. Switching to MonoGame for us provided many benefits. We can opt to distribute a DX powered build by default (the most compatible by far). We can try using their OpenGL template later for potentially obtaining cross platform play. It seems like general memory management is a LOT better in MonoGame. In the IDE garbage collection appears to occur more often (maybe being forced by the MonoGame Game class) but we had small fps hits in SFML when GC occurred and in MonoGame it's not even noticeable. Oh, and everyone who was having problems on their old 2008 machines can now use our client/editor
  7. If you feel like any post is overly negative and does not provide any constructive criticism we highly encourage members to hit the report button located on every post. It's anonymous to regular members and helps us find offensive content since we cannot view every single thing posted on this site.
  8. That's a good point, Zeta and one that I've thought about a lot. We will never reword post count. If you post a lot, fine but reputation is a much better indicator of the quality of member that you are. I don't mind rewarding something shiny for high-rep members but high-rep will change over time so you will have to keep contributing in order to maintain the status. As for donation groups.. that's... tricky... and can be hard to keep track of. Open to suggestions for change but IMO we don't even need to.
  9. Sounds are .wav and Music is .mp3
  10. Server hosting has absolutely been considered. There are a lot of challenges that need to be tackled first though like making sure you don't give up access to the server control panel, being able to start/stop it and making sure that any custom code you add cannot hurt other servers hosted on the same machine. I will reach out to my contact at Ownage Hosting and see how they are able to sandbox Minecraft servers with custom mods/code. In theory we could pull this off, we shall see
  11. I feel like everytime I unsubscribe to some sort of email newsletter they send my email address to 10 more places XD

  12. For the past few months we have set the donation goal to $50.. that was a value that could easily support the hosting and upkeep of the site, cover any required upgrades, and have some to spare just in case. Month after month we have met this goal, and we have doubled it, tripped it, quadrupled it, and reached 5x+ more than we have ever hoped for. Let's take a quick look at our donations from August..... WTF Guys!? That's insane. Joe and I cannot thank you all enough for all of the amazing support you all are giving to this community. When we started AGD we could only dream of the community sustaining itself and you all have gone above and beyond over and over again. This month we are creating a real challenge, one that may not be met, but this month we are going to strive to break even. The site is currently $334.11 away from not just self sustaining but completely thriving. Once we reach this break even point it will largely be up to the community what future donations go towards. We can host contests/competitions, upgrade our vps for faster service, commission new assets, upgrade the site theme, or anything else we want to do. I want to thank everyone again really quick for all the help again. We really do appreciate it! Let's have an epic September and enter a new age here at AGD!
  13. @Agoraphobic has promised that he will make a massive eventing guide at some point. In lieu of that at the moment I'll sort of explain. 1. Open the map editor. 2. Click the events tab 3. Double click somewhere on the map to create your event. 4. Double click in the graphic box to give your event a sprite. 5. Setup your events movement options (random movement, slow movement/freq if you'd like) 6. In the big list on the right double click on the first row. 7. Click the Show Text command. 8. Enter your dialogue. 9. Add any further commands if desired. 10. Save your event. 11. Save your map. 12. Login to game and interact with the event via left-click or e.
  14. Make sure they are on the same layer on both maps. That "should" make it work in editor. Even if that is broken it will work in-game.
  15. Will be adding a resource requests board soon for one-off requests like sprite modifications/locating resources so recruitment can be used for more long-term work.

  16. You can add/remove content in the Client/Resources/ folder. Tilesets specifically are found at Client/Resources/Tilesets
  17. This guide being so short may not have needed to be broken up (this is fine, though) For larger ones it is nice to split up different sections like in this one. I also love having a table of contents sort of deal in the first post so you can skip to where you want to go and IPB does not allow in-page linking/html anchoring so multiple posts is the obvious workaround to that.
  18. Are you looking for it in tile size? (32x32)? Bigger? Would help Zeta and others who attempt this.
  19. Looks great! I can't tell that the belt was ever there.
  20. Yessir. We don't have a scripting system or anything. It's all hardcoded into the source. If you are trying to setup spawn locations or something post-death there are some hacky ways to do it with events. I don't want to derail this topic further, the initial question has been answered. Let's make separate topics for separate questions just for organizational purposes and my own sanity
  21. Just a bit. In the time being you are free to start creating your world, events, plan out your items, equipment, story and everything else. We should be able to keep you busy until the time that we're ready to release everything
  22. E or Left Click is both the attack/interact button. Combat at formulas can definitively be changed once the source is released in a few months.
  23. PSA - I don't care how young or old you are, you are not exempt from the rules.

Whats up with all your cryptic status updates?

  24. Damn that would be fun to go white water rafting on
  25. Go read the information in the link he posted. It is built specifically to work with sprites/tiles for rpg maker that also works in Intersect. While you can achieve all the same stuff and more in Paint.Net you can do it 100x quicker in Game Creator hub.
