Surprise in regards to RPGMaker graphics.

Weylon Santana

Question

So...
I was watching what @jcsnider said in some topics about rpgmaker graphics is only usable for the rpgmakers program (It hurt my heart). I have doubt whether there could be exceptions, anyone (I was desperate). So I got in touch with the official page and I had good news. Look:

59a07c88eea8b_Semttulo.png.8ed0ff27b76e94e79a94999b6f6f5715.png

My mind exploded.
For some time now I wanted to buy one graphics pack for my game.

http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/time-fantasy

The page said that some DLCs are available for use on other engines and that I would have to search one by one. And that's what I did. When I noticed something:

Some feature packs have warnings:

"Please note that our graphic and music packs are licensed for use in RPG Maker only! "
Example
(http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/medieval-plaguebringers)

Some others do not. These yes, we are allowed to use on other engines without the need to give credits (if you bought of course).

So as good news (I believe), we can use some (only SOME) graphics from the rpgmaker site.
I was fortunate enough to want to buy one that is allowed to use. However 70% is not allowed if the pack has this note.

That's all folks! Good luck in the projects.:P

Yep. Time Fantasy and several others have no restrictive licenses with RPGMaker. Though, you may want to purchase the actual Time Fantasy package from the designers rather than RPG Maker.

Where do I find them? I really enjoyed all Time Fantasy. And I have plans to buy three packs. If I can buy them. Otherwise I will buy only two that have no restriction.

If you buy the Time Fantasy graphics from Rpg Maker's site or Rpg Maker DLC on steam you are technically not allowed to use it outside of the Rpg Maker engine.

If you buy it from the developer directly or another site you can use the graphics in any engine.

Good site for graphics, etc:

Thanks for the info @Agoraphobic, Now when people go look here they will have your warning. I'm reviewing the site of the creators of Time Fantasy and talking to my team about it. Still we are convinced to buy this pack. Thanks for warning. :D

Anytime I've said that you cannot use RPG Maker Graphics in our engines or non-RPG Maker engines I've strictly been referring to the RTP or the default graphics that Enterbrain ships with their products.

Almost all other graphics that are sold on RPG Makers site are designed by third parties and those third parties often sell them for other engines on different sites at similar or slightly higher costs. (As you have found.)

Got it.
I even had to investigate this graphic question that was the part where my project most decay. But I and my team have already agreed to buy the necessary graphics. And as you said "those third parties often sell them for other engines on different sites at similar or slightly higher costs."
So we are raising funds for our project to get these projects. Meanwhile we are waiting for the latest version of Intersect Server and investing in history, missions, tasks among many other things.
Once we have everything ready in graphics and history, we will post the basis of what was done and will be done here in the forum.

Asked Calianna about her stuff:

http://pixanna.nl/products/ancient-dungeons-base-pack/

Hello,

Only my commercial tiles such as Futuristic Tiles, Rural Farm Tiles, the Ancient Dungeons sets, and the Fantastic Buildings sets, can all be used in any game engine that you'd like.

My free to use for non-commercial games however, can only be used in RPG Maker.

Hope that explains it!

Cheers,

Celianna

/Thats after you buy it.
