General Awesome
Hey everyone! I'm in need of a little help / advice here. Â I sold my gaming PC a few weeks ago, which was the machine I would typically use to program and develop on. Right now I'm just left with my 2016 Macbook Pro. I want to build another desktop PC that is more than capable of smoothly running Visual Studio and also capable of some moderate graphics processing (nothing too intense - I don't care a lot about running the newest AAA games). Here's my strict requirement: I don't want to spend more than $300. Â I already have a monitor and everything, so I'm just looking at purchasing the parts and tower case itself. I would also like to keep this of small form, as I don't have a lot of room in my apartment. Ranqe
Kibbelz
I'd be suprised if you could get anything half decent with $300. Ranqe

Yeah I could always do this and just hook my Macbook up to a monitor jcsnider

If you didn't notice I included a compatible case in the build I posted. If you want to use that case you'd have to essentially make an entirely different build so that the case, motherboard, cpu, and ram are compatible.

I had a really awesome build I did a few years ago that I sold to a friend because I don't have a lot of room for it at my current place.
panda
I would stick with the MacBook Pro. It's more powerful than the build Adams suggested, and quite frankly 4GB of RAM is not enough to run VS (given that it requires the OS running too) well unless that's all that's running. The MBP will almost certainly be more performant and won't require spending any money or take up additional space.

Yeah the only problem is that I only have a 128GB SSD model :/  I guess maybe I could buy an external HDD

panda
Ah ok. I don't really have a suggestion on brand for USB A, but would have said LaCie for C. Go for a cheap 1TB USB3 external. Look at Transcend, WD and Seagate at the very least. Sethis
