Question

In Ascension what is the best music format to use? I make my own music for mez game, so I figured it would be good to ask now as I am organizing!!

The question arose when I was having trouble getting the music to show up while in the Editor!

Thank you in advance!!!

We're limited by MonoGame in the audio regard. .ogg for music and .wav for sound is all we /can/ support using our current audio libraries - and we really don't want to switch. While MP3 and other audio formats should be trivial I think it becomes more complex for the monogame team when dealing with cross platform.

Best,

if I recall correctly, mp3 went free?

It did indeed go free! Maybe I just placed the music wrong spot, but It's not showing up in my map options while editing? Neither are my sounds. I assume it's a user error, I'm just not sure what.

I'm sure it only looks for certain files.

so lol.mp3 would not show etc

Will that be changed before open source/initial release?

Or should I just change my formats?

.mp3 is good quality

It's like the badiest audio format for quality :))):4_joy::)))

.ogg isn't bad but it's a lossy audio format which is sad cause the audio can be one of the best thing in a game.

Unfortunately lossless is significantly larger.

Indeed but now the recent pc should have enough space for those format. No more need to break the audio by compressing it cause of the device drive space.
