  1. Try updating your graphic drivers as Crest suggested. If that doesn't work please read this post that Panda posted slowly and carefully: Edit: The link is broken. Let me see what I can do...
  2. There are cases where your driver/graphic card reports supporting OpenGL 3 but don't actually offer every feature of that. Once the engine tries to load that feature it fails. In the case of the Intel HD Graphics, there are some drivers (especially in windows 10) that support everything Intersect requires, but you have to hack the driver files to actually use those features. It's really weird...

  7. Install mono on the mac: http://www.mono-project.com/docs/getting-started/install/mac/ Then open terminal, use cd to get to the directory with the Intersect Client and run: mono "Intersect Client.exe"
  8. Authoritative server model, in theory the biggest security flaw might be a little speedhacking disguised as lag. No 2GB memory limit. Most things load at runtime, player data doesn't, nor does map tiles.. ram usage is rather low. Big picture it is better than any other engine you can find out there in this category. (Including the open source ones) and it's only going to get better. (MySQL support in B5) and we will be releasing the source in the very near future.

  11. Your pc is not able to tell if the game is accessible via the outside world. So, what happens is that your Intersect Server asks my server to check and see if the port is open. This error quite literally means what it says "could not retrieve connection information from AGD servers. Do you have an internet connection ?" It means that your server could not ask mine to check the port, therefore my server is down or your internet is out. If it fails to talk to my server that does not mean that your game isn't accessible to the world, it just doesn't know.

  14. Are you saying that you want the map property sounds to not fade if they are the same? (like wind and such)? I think I'm finally understanding your concern.
  15. Sounds would be weird if they didn't fade in and out. We literally just had a bug report that said "sounds immediately stop when you cross a map and its not immersive" Which is why they fade now.
  16. No... it is much more likely that we remove the map options altogether.
  17. It will still play sounds from surrounding maps. All the non-seamless does is hide stuff, and not very well.. We should remove that option since npcs can still attack from adjacent maps.
  18. I think this whole topic is escaping from the simplicity of the original question. Intersect at this point in time is already leagues above any sort of "competition" in which I am aware of. Intersect is is going to maintain an upwards trajectory of improvement. Future versions of Intersect will have tools to upgrade from current versions of Intersect with minimal or no data loss. As such, regardless of what it can do today, it is your best choice by far to use it to design your game now and then you can use your judgement down the line on when the best time to release your game would be.

  20. Please understand there are several viewpoints here, and I think Sky is coming from much more of a developers standpoint, and he does have extensive background in running a fairly popular game. I agree, the tools are there to make a great game, and most of the quirks have workarounds in one way or another. That being said, we don't know yet how Intersect will function under real stress, and while that's a mystery and everyone remains at our mercy for bug fixes, it probably isn't the best idea to release an Intersect game for the masses yet. But someone has to eventually so we can start answering these sorts of questions better. In my personal opinion, the Nightmare launch was fantastic and I really couldn't have been happier with how well that went, how few crashes there were, and what little resources it required on the server hosting side of things.
  21. Generally when UPNP succeeds and it's still not working that means you have multiple firewalls outside of your computer. For example, some homes have a router with a firewall and a modem with the firewall. The server is smart enough to tell the closest one to port forward, but it isn't smart enough to juggle through multiple layers. My next steps for you would be to get into the configuration page of your router, make sure ports are forwarded, and see if it has your public ip. If not then you'll need to look at your routers gateway and repeat. (Port forward, see if it has the public ip)
