How to use animated tiles?

Garlic

Question

http://www.ascensiongamedev.com/resources/filehost/fe09ad03f2756f72314d0a9e9a6e638d.png

So when I go into the dropdown menu I don't see "Animated Autotiles", all I see is "Animated XP" and "Animated VX", which default to HUGE blocks (not sure why it doesn't let me manually select what I want to animate instead of forcing major areas) , anyway, I'm wondering how I can use this since I can't autotile it + animate it, I only have animated or autotile...

The animated map tiles require tiles laid out like this:

Tiles like those allow you to make ponds, beach shores, etc and the water be animated.

To use your fire animation on a map you will want to setup an animation in the animation editor.

Then you can use the attributes tab on the map editor to place your animation whereever you'd like.

Here is how i did it.

I cut the sprite for the torch into rows like so:

Then i set up the animation,

After that, i used an event tile and set the animation to the torch animation i just made.

In game:

Looks great and far more detailed than my response :). Only edit I’d recommend is using the animation option under map attributes instead of events. Will be slightly less processing that way :)
