How to use animated tiles?

Question

http://www.ascensiongamedev.com/resources/filehost/fe09ad03f2756f72314d0a9e9a6e638d.png

So when I go into the dropdown menu I don't see "Animated Autotiles", all I see is "Animated XP" and "Animated VX", which default to HUGE blocks (not sure why it doesn't let me manually select what I want to animate instead of forcing major areas) , anyway, I'm wondering how I can use this since I can't autotile it + animate it, I only have animated or autotile...

Here is how i did it.

I cut the sprite for the torch into rows like so:

Then i set up the animation,

After that, i used an event tile and set the animation to the torch animation i just made.

The animated map tiles require tiles laid out like this:

Tiles like those allow you to make ponds, beach shores, etc and the water be animated.

To use your fire animation on a map you will want to setup an animation in the animation editor.

Then you can use the attributes tab on the map editor to place your animation whereever you'd like.

Looks great and far more detailed than my response :). Only edit I’d recommend is using the animation option under map attributes instead of events. Will be slightly less processing that way :)

I didnt even see that! Thank you!

-Edit

Setting it under attributes even shows the animation in the editor! Thank god! This makes it so much better haha!

-Edit 2 Only  gripe is it takes away my blocked attribute so i have to be careful.

@defaultx you can place a blank event over the attribute for a quick work around. Though npcs might be able to walk through them but I’m not sure on that.

Good idea thanks!
