Whitespirits Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Hi Guys, so I have been in need of some key DBZ buildings but need to fit the VX Ace modern style. Here is my capsule corp so far What do you think?
Beefy Kasplant Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Looks good! I really like your mix of DBZ and VC Ace styles. Since Suus is on my ass because of my lack of shading, would you mind telling me how you make that shading effect?
Whitespirits Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Thanks man I'm no expert haha, I use a dark colour will paint tool on a side I want to shade then use the smudge tool vx uses a lot of brush work so I guess I get sea u with it
Beefy Kasplant Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Yeah I went ahead and did some research. Installed paint.net (I was using mspaint before this) apparently gausian (sp?) Blur works wonders for shading
Whitespirits Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 End result I think this is the best I can do
Kibbelz Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I was using mspaint before this MS Paint OP. No seriously, shading will be made easy when upgrading.
Beefy Kasplant Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Certainly true, Paint.net is so much better already. But I hate that I am not used to the shortcuts and everything. Going back to paint for the basework and using .net for the shading. But ontopic: Could you post a picture of this in action? I feel like it could use a bit more shading to be similar to VX ace and maybe a bit darker?
Whitespirits Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 I'm improving this, I sat it surrounded in a city tileset and it looked like a child had drawn it lol update : Thoughts guys?
Damian666 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 try a structure on the yellow? its just plain yellow all around, make it so you see details on it, would be better imho
Beefy Kasplant Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 It works, but I think it would be better if you got rid of the black outline, and I guess some detail would be nice, but then again, I wouldn't know how to add detail to a yellow bowl haha.
Kibbelz Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Your background is plain, add a cliff or some shit to the background. its so plain right now it looks out of place.
