  1. Damian posted a link to instructions but theyre not very detailed. In order to get a game running and exposed to the internet there's a small network configuration step you have to do. You'll need the login to your router, follow Damian's steps, and checkout my article on port forwarding if you get stuck. My tutorial goes into detail on what port forward is and what you are doing, it's a beefy read but worth the information.
  2. vb6 is the best language out there, change my mind.

  3. I am your beast, And you are my goddess. My love to you is true and loyal, For only the beast, misunderstood by man, May truly see the humanity in the heart of the human soul. For it is love that burns like a torch in the hearts of each of us, what drives us, the love for the beauty of the human spirit. And it is your love for which my heart burns! As it is the only love which I can truly understand, The love of finding the humanity confined within the body of the human!

  6. It's a function in the Map's header file SALEM_API std::string& get_map_right() { return m_map_right; } m_map_right gets loaded from the map's json file.
  7. That's the point of the post, How can I refactor that? Each function does different operations for the indexes. It's just a matrix, and one if statement shifts the maps in the current block down, so it clears the bottom 3 maps, moves row 1 to row 2 and row 0 to row 1 than loads row 1, while another function does almost the same thing but shifts maps left, so clear the right side, move col 1 to col 2 and col 0 to col 1 than load col 0. The code seems repetitive but each if statement is doing something else. I wanted to see if I could find a way to move the contents of each if statement into a single function, but wasn't sure how.
  8. https://gitlab.com/salemgd/salem2d/blob/feature/game_world/src/system/objects/GameWorld.cpp Got this file, the code is very C Like written in C++. I feel like there's a lot of repetition in it, but don't know how I would split it up, looking for suggestions. Checkout the Update function and the DrawMask and DrawFringe functions.
  9. David Tennant was the only thing that made Doctor Who tolerable. Change my mind.

  10. And I am not frightened of dying
    Any time will do, I don't mind
    Why should I be frightened of dying?
    There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime

    If you can hear this whispering you are dying

  14. So, it's actually baffling to me how many people told me they can't see the illusion from the other places I've posted this. Looking at the pictures taken from the different angles, focus on the balck hole and try to see a 3d ball, or a black hole sucking in the lines and arrows going around it. The last one, there's a platform and the blurry parts of it are the shadow, the way you perceive the art and how you think about what you're looking at, changes the image entirely
  15. It's hard to see through the camera, if you look at the image from the end of the page, it makes a tunnel

  18. Yeah, I heard it was a custom version of unity. Doubt you could make an mmorpg on the switch though. Nintendo seems to not like the whole online communication thing.
  19. How friendly is nintendo's market with indie game devs?
  20. I feel like linux should be higher because of cloud computing and how a lot of companies use Ubuntu for hosting back end software like REST Services and Web Servers. I'm having trouble finding actual statistics on it, but i'm pretty sure there are a lot more linux based web servers out there than windows. I understand this from a standpoint of which systems are being used in the office, but cloud computing has had to have SERIOUSLY increased the amount of linux servers being used. Edit: This is the most I could find: https://w3techs.com/technologies/overview/operating_system/all And honestly, i'm pretty sure the only reason the marketshare for windows is so high is because most software is being written for windows. We're stuck on a standard, and we're letting that standard limit what we write. Web applications are starting to take over, and when they do, it doesn't matter what systems a company uses.

  22. Windows has a HUGE advantage at being absolute trash.
  23. It's not even just that it pays the bills, python is legit a great language. It's perfect for System Administration, Data Analysis, Bot Development, AI Programming, Prototyping. It's a god of a language. Java can suck itself with its outdated standards. Most of its libraries are like witchcraft anyway. "AutoMagic" pssh, more like Black Magic, amiright? @Mighty Professional The problem is that windows has a million ways to do things and like no development standards making linking a bitch to use. If you've ever compared the system directory structures between OSX, Linux, and Windows. Windows sticks out like a sore thumb and it's because its a cluttered mess with no standards. In good news, after 12 hours of battling with visual studio, i got my shit working. Twas a noble fight.
