jcsnider's post in Possible API? was marked as the answer
It is something I am thinking about more and more as we get closer to release but we have no plans laid out at the moment.

jcsnider's post in How to import personal sprites? was marked as the answer
Just open the Resources/Entities folder and add/remove whatever you want.Â
-
jcsnider's post in Cross-Platform? was marked as the answer
No neither engine is cross platform at this time. We hope to expand Intersect to reach mobile devices and web browsers but that won't happen for months or years (if ever)

jcsnider's post in What causes movement stutter in 1.5? was marked as the answer
Just following up now that we have it fixed. Movement stutter was caused by some users having very inaccurate results reported by Environment.TickCount.
Â
We have now switched our time methods to use the .Net stopwatch class. It is a lot more accurate which does not cause delay between movement/steps.

jcsnider's post in Connect the server Lan (Router) was marked as the answer
The general steps to get others into your game are as follows.
Â
1. Open port 4500 on your router. You can find the specific guide for your router here -Â http://portforward.com/
2. Find your public ip address. You can find that here: http://ascensiongamedev.com/resources/myip.php
3. Finally, open the config.xml in your client/resources folder and change localhsot to your public ip address from step 2.
Â
That should be all you have to do. If it still doesn't work try disabling Windows firewall and/or your Antivirus. Once you find what's blocking the connection you can add an exemption for Intersect.
Â
Goodluck!

jcsnider's post in PortForwarding. was marked as the answer
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Arris/default.htm
Â
Edit: You can follow the guide for any application. Apache for example, and just use port 4500 (for Intersect) instead of whatever they tell you to use.

Not in v1.6, not in v1.7.
Â
One of these updates will include scene controls where you can fade in/fade out, show images, etc

jcsnider's post in Changing Fonts? was marked as the answer
Yes, you could try to hot swap with other MonoGame fonts but that would only get you so far if you were to succeed.

jcsnider's post in Negative Conditions? Default Variable/Switch Value? String variables? was marked as the answer
Sorry about my delay in answering this, been really busy debugging and with work the past several days.
Â
Whenever you use a conditional branch there, an else {} set of code is generated and you can use that for negative.
{option} Â
Â
All switches are false by default. All variables are 0 by default. This is true for global and player until changed.
If you want to change the starting values you can create a common event that runs on login. Checks if switch 1 is false. If so it changes all kinds of values and changes switch 1 to true. Then their variables are set correctly to get started and next time switch 1 is true meaning that the script won't run.
Â
Something we may eventually add. Not currently planned. (You can do this yourself after the source is out though.)
Â
Strength = Damage
Ability Power = Spell Damage (currently broken)
Defense = Blocks some damage from basic attacks
Magic Resist = Blocks some damage from spells
Speed = Affects movement and attack speed
Â
HP = How much health you have
Mana = How much power you have to cast spells.

jcsnider's post in Mscorlib Error on Start was marked as the answer
Try clicking Build -> Clean solution and then try again.
Â
If that doesn't work let's try disabling the VS hosting process by Clicking Project > Orion+ Properties > Debug > Unchecking "Enable the Visual Studio Hosting Process"
Â
Let me know if either option works.

jcsnider's post in An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions was marked as the answer
Changed the title to reflect the error. This is caused by a firewall or antivirus blocking your connection. Please disable both one at a time to figure out which one is the culprit and then turn it back on and add an exception for Intersect Client and Intersect Editor

jcsnider's post in Questing System was marked as the answer
You don't need all that extra content in your post. I am trimmed it down to your question only. Quests are currently in development and will be enabled sometime during beta. You can refer to the development plans here:Â http://www.ascensiongamedev.com/community/topic/691-intersect-development-road-map/?do=findComment&comment=12805

jcsnider's post in How to get people to join my server?? was marked as the answer
Port forwarding is required to allow anyone to "access" something in your network. (Like a game server.)
Â
If anyone is already on your network, like family/friends in the house with you then you generally don't need to port forward.
Â
The only other option you might have is to use a VPN service like Hamachi but I hate recommending that due to speed.Â

jcsnider's post in Resources problem was marked as the answer
Resources not working in-game is a big bug, fixed for the next version.Â

jcsnider's post in Changing default names was marked as the answer
The combat and speed formulas are hard coded so the stats they depend on are too.
Â
That being said sometime before release we are going to incorperate .xml files for multiple languages and changing stuff like that will be cake.

jcsnider's post in A few questions about Intersect (skills, no-classes, C# development, etc...) was marked as the answer
1. You can only customize the UI right now to the extent of replacing the images used to compose it. Once the source is released you will be able to modify it with very little C# knowledge.
Â
2. (See #1)
Â
3. You can change the players spawn location in the Class Editor. Â The camera does center on the player by default when possible, however it does respect world boundaries. If you add maps to the left or top of the spawn map the player would then be centered.
Â
4. Absolutely. Even a little bit of C# knowledge will go a long way once the source is released.
Â
5. Best way would be to custom code it. Again, a little C# will go a long way once we release the source and start supporting it. Currently when you switch classes, spells from the previous class are kept. That being said you could use common events to facilitate the transfer between classes and removing/adding different spells if you wish.

jcsnider's post in Paperdolls on 32x32 characters? was marked as the answer
Use the Sprite without space for paper dolls and then a paperdoll that is large like 96x96. It should center that 96x96 frame on the smaller Sprite -- at least that's how I intended to combat this problem.Â

jcsnider's post in How do I get started? was marked as the answer
1. Start the server.
2. Start the client, make an account, login.
3. Start the editor, sign in with that account.
4. In the editor design your game, make maps, whatever else you want to do.
5. Log back into the client and you will see the changes appear.
