Intersect Beta 5 Release Plans - Updated!
jcsnider replied to jcsnider's topic in Announcements & Quick Links
Update! The private testing phase is quickly coming to a close. I want to quickly thank all of the testers for the countless hours they've spent helping make B5 as stable as possible for it's first public release. Thank you @Zetasis, @Mcadams, @Raku, @Khaikaa, @Niko, and @dxxknight During this testing stage the following bugs have been found and fixed: Event ‘change face’ command not working Instances where the client/editor will loop and log a TON of nonsense. FPS limiter not working when decreased from ‘No Limit’ Editor crashes when loading or changing maps HidePicture event command Deleting event command fixes Various bugs with equipping weapons/shields with weird equipment configs The inability to set animation loop counts to 0 in the animation editor Fixed texture setting that would bring some computers frame rates to a crawl (3-5fps or lower) Cliff Autotiles Fixed global events not spawning on server boot Fixed map sound effects Fixed map warp attributes losing direction upon migration from B4 to B5. Fixed flipping map selection vertically/horizontally (Kibz forgot 4 ‘=’ characters) Fixed crash when creating new characters/accounts Fixed paperdoll rendering Fixed editor crafting windows from having buttons/controls cut off Delete npc confirmation box loading behind the npc editor Map Attribute Lists (ie animations and resources) refresh when switching tabs in that menu Client crashes when deleting anything in the editor Open settings hotkey Made auto-target less flashy and not reset when targeting the same thing Global event switch switches not setting/checking correctly Player Sprite Duplication on Logout/Returning to Character Select Player touch global events not activating Shop default currency not migrating correctly Fixed map renames not propagating correctly Fixed light editor values not saving properly Fixed numeric input arrows from losing styling Resource not vanishing from client when removed from map under certain settings NPC name colors flashing under certain aggression settings Textbox text funky/skipping forward when typing Global switches editor combo box value not appearing. Global map event positions glitching when leaving/entering map Character faces not displaying in the character selection box Glitches with event entity inspector word wrapping. Npc spawn duration is stored in seconds (not ms) Inability to hide CharacterInfoLabel ui element on character selection window Announcements sent form the server console not displaying in the correct color Npcs avoid walkable resources when pathfinding Stunning NPC makes them lose aggro/target Main menu hidden when F11 is toggled to hide game ui ‘Has at least’ condition not working for items in multiple stacks and unstackable items Fixing crafting progress bar from sizing incorrectly Fix party life bars from sizing incorrectly Map renames not propagating correctly (cont) Event move routes pausing when blocked and ‘ignore if blocked’ selected. Fixed losing of map folders when they are drug into themselves in the map list Fixed editor windows sometimes losing focus when other editors save maps Unsupported resolution choices will show an error, instead of a gltichy world. Updated MonoGame to working version for @Jjvm_, @LinkTaylord, and all those who could run B4 but not the B5 demo game. Fixed editor not downloading default resources when the resources directory isn’t found. Fixed a bug where, with latency, you could glitch onto the same tile as an event Fixed class attack anims when engine is configured to have no weapon slots. Pvp Basic Attacks not working Deleted characters not disappearing until client restart Music not stopping when it should while switching maps Server lag/crashes when rapidly setting global switch/variable values Goto Label event commands Copying and pasting of event pages The Demo Game has been updated with all of these bug fixes, feel free to give that a try! We are doing one final internal testing build and then B5 will be released publicly to everyone! Stay tuned, it'll be here real soon -
Can i do this on this engine?
jcsnider replied to [email protected]'s question in Questions & Answers
The engine is 100% free. You /can/ donate to us here. But no donation or payment is required no matter how much money you make with your game(s). -
Sure you can. But you need both of those conditions to be on the same list. List A: Level > 20 List B: Class = Human Level > 10 For an item with those condition lists anyone could use it if they are > level 20 but humans can use the item as soon as they are > level 10
-
@Garlic are there multiple condition lists? If all the conditions on any list are met then the item will equip.

Can i do this on this engine?
jcsnider replied to [email protected]'s question in Questions & Answers
No, not at this time. Once the source is released you can literally do anything including all the above via code. -
No, antiviruses will not like that software, because it is meant to modifying drivers. The OpenGL exception is not within our code, with inside MonoGames (a framework we use). I can only tell you what has worked for others. Alternatively you could purchase a PCI graphics card and install it. Outside of that, I do not have any other solutions to offer.

Intel HD Graphics 2000 and 3000 do not have any official Windows 10 support. While HD 3000 technically supports OpenGL 3.1 and meets our requirements there is no Windows 10 driver to make it work. Ref: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005526/graphics-drivers.html You might have some success with the hack on this page, other members have, but it is rather sketchy. https://www.ascensiongamedev.com/topic/2165-faq-failed-to-create-graphics-device/

Like most other video games it won't run in a VM with a virtualized graphics card. What OS is the host system?
-
Have I tried? Yes. Is it feasible? Not now. Will that ever be officially supported? Probably not. Everyone is welcome to give it a shot once the source is out though - results will vary.

Intersect Beta 5 Release Plans - Updated!
jcsnider replied to jcsnider's topic in Announcements & Quick Links
Want to quickly say thanks again to all of those who expressed interest in joining this testing phase. We officially brought on 6 candidates who are already doing some fine work. If nothing major comes up we will have a public B5 test available mid-late this week we hope -
Maybe run the server as sudo/root. It might have permission issues. Otherwise maybe wait until B5. All errors listed there are with a socket system that isn’t enabled in B5

Thanks everyone! There’s lots of interest in Stage 1.5 testing and I’m really looking forward to kicking it off! I will be selecting candidates as soon as everything is ready to go which will hopefully be late tonight! (Tomorrow otherwise!) If you’re interested then there’s still plenty of time to submit the form above to be considered for this testing stage! -
Intersect Beta 5 Release Plans - Updated!
jcsnider replied to jcsnider's topic in Announcements & Quick Links
Update! I've got more bug fixes on the way for the demo game, but we need to press forward with B5's release. Unfortunately there are a TON of bugs with our editors that I hadn't previously noticed.. I'm patching them up now but I don't think a full community Beta 5 test is a good choice yet. So I'm introducing Stage 1.5: Stage 1.5: I want 3-4 people to give Beta 5 a try in a closed test over the next 2-3 days. Let's find the major bugs and patch them up, and then the community can come together to help us work out the rest. Looking for people who can dedicate several hours a day 3-4 each day over the next 2-3 days. Are you interested? Let me know by filling out the form below, so I can pick the best group of testers for this task. Beta 5, Stage 1.5 Candidacy Form Thanks, JC! -
Updated the stock, we actually have plenty of slots available. Also, after the B5 launch my services will be upgraded to provide MySQL databases automatically and secure/encrypted connections to server api ports via ssl. Prices for all tiers will be rising a little bit after those changes are live to make hosting these games a little more manageable. Purchase your server at the lower prices now and you will retain the current/cheaper rates even after access to the new features are live as a reward for being loyal customers and helping this service take off.
-
Whoops. Sorry about that, thanks for the report. Fixed.
-
IHS Services will go down for a few hours between Nov. 22-25 while we upgrade our servers! I will update this thread with the exact timing as soon as I know more. Please plan accordingly, and we apologize for the inconvenience!
-
Wanted to give everyone in the community a quick notice that we will be upgrading our server when US Black Friday deals go live. This server upgrade will require that AGD, IHS, and everything else on our current server goes offline during the transfer. Our new server will be more powerful, and have a lot more memory so IHS can host more games, and AGD will have a lot more room to grow. I don't know yet exactly which day the downtime will occur, and I'll update this thread as I know more, but expected downtime will be several hours. To all of our US residents, have a fantastic Thanksgiving, and stay safe if you go out shopping on Black Friday!

Ascension Games Directory! We're finally ready to bring our community Games directory online! This thread will go over the features of our system, why you may want to use it, and how this will change our site moving forward. Before moving on, I want to give credit to @TheSandersGuy for recommending that we look into modifying the "Clubs" system of our forum software for our own uses. What are 'Games'? This system allows us to create little chunks of our site that we can dedicate to your games. When you create a 'Game' you are given a landing/home page that you can edit, a forum discussion board, a page where you can upload downloads and other game content, and two extra forum boards for questions/answers, and bug reports! Features Design your own home page/landing page. (Example) Set your own icon, game title, and header background (See the image above) Server status display including the online player count (If you're using Intersect) Full moderation powers of each of your forums boards (Discussion, Q&A, and Bug Reports) This includes locking topics, pinning them, editing topics, deleting posts, etc, etc Before setting your game to public you can invite your team to help setup your game. We highly encourage you to use these boards for planning/design ideas with your team before going live! Set your games properties such as the engine you're using and the state of your game. (Img) Public Games vs Private Games Games are all private by default, and you can invite individual members of AGD to join your team. Members of your team can see your game before it's public and they can participate in the discussion boards for planning/early design use. Whenever you're ready to launch your game you can request that we make it public via the Manage Game menu. In the past we had singular game topics, and then sub-boards for the larger projects in our community. We are phasing out sub-boards for this system instead. Much like the sub-boards we want to fill our games directory with high quality games with committed developers and teams. Keeping that in mind, the process to make your game public will include filling out a short checklist and then Damian, Kibbelz, and myself will review your game based on the following expectations: Games should be weeks or months into active development and past 'concept' stage. A well structured landing page. Screenshots, videos, music, and any other sort of media. A story, which should be original and have some thought put into it. Stickied posts in your Q/A and Bug Report boards with whichever guidelines you'd like your fans to follow when posting. Downloads in the downloads section (if your game has a release) Originality, or anything that sets your game apart from all the others. Effort. We should be able to tell that you care and are putting effort into this project and not doing the minimal amount of work just to pass our review. Activity! If you're at the point where you want an entire section at AGD for your game then we should see updates every now and then, and you should be watching over your discussion boards here even if you have your own community. Inactive games will be removed from our directory. What if my game isn't ready to be public? If you want to post public information about your game here at AGD, but don't quite meet the expectations above, the games forum board will still be available along with our design and creativity boards. Forum Changes for Games A quick link will be added to our navigation for you to access the Games directory. On the sidebar we will also have a new widget to show recent updates from all the games on our site. Give it a try! Want to see what it's all about, checkout the section for the active Demo Game here! If you'd like to add your game to our directory click here. Feel free to ask questions below, hopefully you all will like the changes!

Awesome share!!! Some damn good graphic packs in there ^^
-
No, sorry, webhosting is not a service I want to get into. There are thousands of companies that already do it, and they are doing it cheaper and better than I could. I’m offering Intersect hosting because it isn’t offered by anyone else.
-
Might be merged with the editor one day, but that sort of character customization won’t ever be client-sided in the vanilla version of Intersect.
-
Not currently possible. Maybe in the future.
