  1. Anyone playing Runescape 3 these days? I made a ton of progress over the double exp weekend, and am really starting to get back into it. Here are my stats:
  2. While the following screenshot may seem insignificant in terms of the overall progress of Ruinic, trust me when I say that it is a MAJOR milestone. The basis of NPC AI has been implementing along with pathfinding. Additionally, I finally managed to quash a pretty severe bug which would cause the server side player movement calculations (and NPC) to go wonky. This bug was a major roadblock on our way to a closed alpha release, and now that it is out of the way, I can assure everyone that a playable version of the game will be released very soon. Right now I'd like to shift gears towards developing the neccessary editors to create the main city which will serve as a hub for all players participating in the alpha. I decided to go this route, where players will coexist in a traditional ORPG fashion within the main city, as opposed to the previously planned lobby system. Instead players will rely on in game interfaces and match-making mechanisms. I also need to begin work on the website, which I would like to get to a relatively stable point before I begin advertising to the broader public and put the game on Steam Greenlight. This has posed to be a rather difficult task for me, as I am neither competent nor enjoy developing on front-end websites. If anyone would like to assist in this process, I'd be more than happy to bring you onto the team! Just PM me your previous experience and I'll get back to you ASAP.
  3. Best bet to protect your assets is to hire a lawyer
  4. The art style will likely be redone at some point in the near future! Randomized items are still up in the air. We'll likely have an item system similar to that of Diablo. Also, for anyone interested, Ruinic now has a Discord server where you can keep track of development and chat with other people interested in development! Discord: https://discord.gg/7gTapm
  5. Larger screen resolution, character window, inventory, and equipping items implemented! We're on our way to alpha testing beginning very, very soon!
  6. If I recall from speaking to her about it once, she had a brain tumor, but I don't want to say for sure.
  7. This is so terribly sad to hear Lumiere was a brilliant artist and an important person in the Eclipse community. I still remember our Schlong Man fiasco.
  8. Implemented inventory system and wordwrapping into chat this morning.
  9. House's Facebook is still up but I haven't had them added in awhile. Anyone have them added on there?
  10. Murdoc just suggested this to me and I love the idea, so it totally would be part of the system
  11. Definitely. Perhaps this is solvable through the use of channels? You could have one just containing the dialogue between you and the NPC you're communicating with. I think it just has a cool feel to it. There just seems to be something more interactive in chatting directly with NPCS in game
  12. Not sure whether any of you have played games like Runescape Classic or Tibia, but in these, you are able to communicate with NPCs by typing directly into the general chat. In Tibia, this is accomplished by communicating directly with NPCs like you would other players, guided by possible dialogue options which are highlighted at some point in the NPCs conversation piece, like so: I'm currently considering implementing something like this into my game Ruinic. This would be as opposed to the more standard dialogue system that you see in games like FF, WoW, etc.
  13. Thanks! Unfortunately I'm currently unsure of whether I'll be able to continue using the art style as it currently is. They were made by Murdoc and he is unfortunately not currently working on this project
  14. Yes, there will be a Linux and OSX client.
  15. I don't believe this is something you can currently accomplish in Intersect, but when the source is released, it will very well be possible. Actually, I'll most probably release a tutorial on how to add this functionality to the source.
  16. I'm proud to announce that work to this project has resumed once again, and I will pick up exactly where I left off nearly a year ago. You may check out the game and its more frequent updates, discussion, and more at our website http://www.ruinic.com/community/index.php Additionally, you may sign up to be involved in the closed beta process, which provides an opportunity to establish yourself as an early supporter of the game and help see it through to completion!
  17. Awesome to see the progress so far. Looking forward to a source release.
  18. My mistake. I have the 2015 model.
  19. Yeah the only problem is that I only have a 128GB SSD model :/ I guess maybe I could buy an external HDD
  20. Yeah I'm at work right now so I couldn't look too closely, but size is a huge component of my decision making here. I had a really awesome build I did a few years ago that I sold to a friend because I don't have a lot of room for it at my current place.
  21. Do you think I could fit all of that into this case? https://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-Computer-Front-Panel-SG13B/dp/B00U8IS89E/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502834224&sr=1-3&keywords=small+pc+case lol
  22. Hmm. Yeah I could always do this and just hook my Macbook up to a monitor
  23. Hey everyone! I'm in need of a little help / advice here. I sold my gaming PC a few weeks ago, which was the machine I would typically use to program and develop on. Right now I'm just left with my 2016 Macbook Pro. I want to build another desktop PC that is more than capable of smoothly running Visual Studio and also capable of some moderate graphics processing (nothing too intense - I don't care a lot about running the newest AAA games). Here's my strict requirement: I don't want to spend more than $300. I already have a monitor and everything, so I'm just looking at purchasing the parts and tower case itself. I would also like to keep this of small form, as I don't have a lot of room in my apartment.
  24. Yeah well I work 30 hours a week, go to school full time, and live in a small ~600 square foot 1bdr apartment. I had a high end gaming PC I built myself for years, but sold it because I don't have the time or space for it. My Xbox just sits right under my TV and is ready-to-go whenever I've got a few minutes to fool around on it.
  25. Anyone out there playing Xbox One? I just got one, but none of my IRL friends are really into video games, at least not on this platform. Right now getting pretty into Diablo 3 and also playing a little bit of BF1, but I've got some other games as well. Add me: Young Trotsky
