jcsnider's post in 2nd Weapon slot? was marked as the answer
No. That would be a source edit. This would be especially tough for games using paper dolls because you would need 2 paper dolls for weapon (one for each hand) for the game to look right. This is not a functionality we plan to add.Â

jcsnider's post in Combat Crash was marked as the answer
Hi @Senraise welcome to AGD.  Yeah Elysium was my life many years ago. Elements of Elysium made it into Intersect
Â
Bug reports generally go here
http://www.ascensiongamedev.com/community/bug_tracker/intersect/
Â
But let me save you the time. You can find a server replacement here with a fix to your problem. This fix will also be pushed into Beta 2.

jcsnider's post in Intersect License was marked as the answer
We discussed in the shoutbox. The licensing will be as follows:
Â
Client & Intersect Library  (MIT)
Editor & Server (GPL)
Â
We want users to feel like they are in full control of their game. They can make profit and do anything they want with the client.
At the same time we don't want anyone releasing variants of our engine closed source. GPL will allow you to make your own games privately, but if you re-release as an engine we expect the source to be released along with it.

jcsnider's post in About title background image and resolution was marked as the answer
I chose for the engine to crop the image on lower resolutions instead of scaling it so it doesn't look bad when the aspect ratio of the window changes.Â
Â
I recommend choosing a background where everything outside the 800x600 center is just extra detail but not important. If you really want scaling that is a one line code change when the source is out.Â

jcsnider's post in Language File was marked as the answer
This is correct. The next 2-3 updates will start allowing you to modify language files to use Intersect in the language of your choice.Â

jcsnider's post in how to resize tiles? was marked as the answer
Delete Server/Resources/Intersect.db
Â
Open Server/Resources/Config.xml
Â
Set TileWidth and TileHeight to 16.
Â
Set MapWidth to to 64 and MapHeight to 26.
Â
Save the config.xml and restart everything.

jcsnider's post in Set player checkpoints? was marked as the answer
That's how I recommend people do it. That also grants the ability to have different checkpoints or spawn areas based off of classes. A win all the way around.

jcsnider's post in ERROR: Tried to load one or more null game objects (Help Please) was marked as the answer
This is database corruption. I need to figure out a better way to handle it. If anything you can load up the SqliteBrowser to view the Intersect.db file. You can then click on rows 34 and 35 of the items table, click the delete record button, and write the changes back to the database. You might have to remake an item or two.... but you can get back into your game design

jcsnider's post in New resource tool was marked as the answer
Check the server config.xml. You should be able to add new tools there.

jcsnider's post in Attack animation was marked as the answer
You can make the weapon appear over the character using paperdolls. You add a graphic in the paperdolls folder to be rendered over each frame of your character as your character moves. In this thread you can learn how paperdolls work and how to use them:
Â
More advanced modification (aka via the source) is not permitted to be discussed until the time that the source is publicly released.

jcsnider's post in Does mapcache.db linked to intersect.db? was marked as the answer
Map cache just lets the editor load quicker. It is not required to stay in sync it can be deleted and would be rebuilt upon next editor launch.Â
Â
Intersect.db is server sided and contains all needed data for your game.Â

jcsnider's post in Black screen problem was marked as the answer
Windows XP is not supported. Intersect requires .Net Framework 4.5 which Microsoft only released for Vista or later.
Â
Intersect also requires DirectX 10+ for it's lighting system. If you are crashing after logging in that might be the culprit.
Â
Outside of that you could be facing a programming bug.. there are many that we have already fixed for 2.0. Without a broken machine to play with in hand or remotely, however, there isn't much advice that we can give.

jcsnider's post in How to set up EO4's Built in Updater? was marked as the answer
Not an answer, but a warning. The built in EO4 updater only updates content and can only update content so if you ever made source changes you couldn't distribute them with the built in updater. Â This makes the updater very, very bad by default.
Â
I had a guide on EclipseOrigins.com at one point but it was deleted. I no longer know how to use the updater. I am not sure if anyone ever actually used it or if it works lol.
Â
tl;dr: Turn around and look elsewhere quick!

jcsnider's post in How to hide HUD? was marked as the answer
Not possible yet
Â
We will add this functionality sometime mid/late beta for you all
Â
In the meantime you can use the screenshot buttons inside the editor to take snapshots of your game world.. just not you in the game.

jcsnider's post in Network limitations? was marked as the answer
@2DMashery we don't really know. Everything is fairly instant in general, you see people walking around, talking, fighting, etc in real time.
Â
As far as stress testing though it isn't something that we've done. @lurv has been streaming development of his game recently. You can see it get upwards of 10 people online at a time. Sometimes there are problems and sometimes it's fine. I am working closely with him to fix any bottlenecks that exist.
Â
I can't tell you for sure at the moment if the engine can support 30+ people online at a time. I can say though that it will be able to before we get to the final release

jcsnider's post in engine? was marked as the answer
There was an engine a lonnnnng time ago called the Chaos Engine that had all of those features. The site for the engine is still up but all of the download links are broken. I don't foresee you being able to find it and even if you did.. a LOT of stuff is broken in it.
Â

Â
I know I'm beating a dead horse but your best bet it to take an existing engine that actually works and adding in the features you want yourself or paying someone to do it for you.

JC

jcsnider's post in Protecting Resource Graphics? was marked as the answer
Easy to do once the source is out.Â
Â
Not worth the time though. Anyone who steals your content won't follow through with anything.  (I can't convince you of that though, it's something you learn overtime.)

jcsnider's post in Why Client+Editor separated ? was marked as the answer
Much more than just security. It also makes both code bases smaller and easier to deal with. The client may very likely be ported to other operating systems and platforms one day where the editing features won't be. There are other reasons to that are currently escaping me. Someone could in theory merge them again once the source is out. I wouldn't recommend it though.

jcsnider's post in Screen Size is messed up? was marked as the answer
Make sure your Windows DPI is set to 100%.
Â
You can find out how to set your DPI here. (Make sure to read Option 2)

jcsnider's post in How Edit Map Brightness was marked as the answer
Outside maps are affected by Time of Day settings so setting the brightness property will have no effect.
Â
Indoor maps, however, are not affected by the Time of Day settings so the brightness property will work.
Â
You can choose if you want to use time of day or not. But if you want to use the down and dirty brightness property just set indoor to true

jcsnider's post in How do weapons function? was marked as the answer
I'm with Kassie. They should be pretty straight forward so if they're not working make a bug report with a screenshot of your config and we will look into it

jcsnider's post in Rearanging interface was marked as the answer
This won't be possible until the source is released, but once it is moving everything around won't be difficult. We're almost there
