  7. Updates! Added a section on Graphics rendering as I am beginning to learn OpenGL myself. This is some advanced stuff for anyone who is interested in learning game programming at its core. For anyone who is looking for a library that is easier for intermediate level developers, I recommend checking out SFML, I'll add some links to that later. (Note: OpenGL in this area is for C++, same as GLFW, however there may be GLFW wrappers for other languages just as SFML has wrappers for C#, Python, Ruby and a few other major languages.)

  9. C++, collections is not an option, i think i decided to go with the observer/subscriber pattern because it now works with my game scene system.
  10. Ha that's funny, the guy one stack overflow said "There's nothing wrong with using a switch statement, it's perfectly acceptable and readable on first look. Also check out rpc, that's a thing too". Yeah, i figured it was gonna come down to the subscriber pattern...
  11. So, I'm trying to find a good design pattern for managing my packet handlers once a network packet comes in. Basically the flow is TCP Packet Received -> Deserialize packet into object -> Handle Packet based on the Packet's Type received in the first bytes The thing is I don't want a bunch of switch case statements, I thought about using the subscriber pattern but than i thought that I'd need a list of a bunch subscribe(PacketType, Function Pointer) which is just as bad as the switch cases. Anyone know a good pattern for this?
  12. Bumping as I am still looking for card artists.
  13. No problem, I just edited that reply too as you were replying. i was looking at the wrong section when I posted that. So my last edit will tell you how to fix it.
  14. Your port for intersect is set to 5402 but you opened up a firewall rule (port forwarded) port 5401. Try chaning both your WAN and local port to 5402 on the port forwarding rule. Basically the WAN port section of that setting is forwarding traffic from the WAN port to the local port, the way you have it configured 5401 would be the port to connect to from the client, you should set the WAN port and the Local port to both 5402. What your current options are doing: Client sends packet -> Hits 5401 -> router forwards traffic from 5401 to whatever application is running on port 5402 on the local network.
  15. can you screenshot the settings page for your router's port forwarding information?
