  5. Yeah. 9/10 months of it and I'm burned out. It's too big a project for one man. And it doesn't really have that much appeal in gameplay. It's my first lengthy production, and I doubt the infrastructure it has will allow a CPU to survive past the second day.

  10. Howdy all, I've been working on Project Keira since approximately January of this year, and it's come a long way. I can pixel it, I can program it and I can do everything else as is required. However the workload behind it is starting to build up and I could really do with a second pair of VB.Net hands on it. The work is unpaid; I currently use Dropbox to access and sync the files at work, home, etc; I use Asana.com to track the project. Project Keira is written from the ground up in VB.Net by myself with no engine and is a open-world simulation sandbox with minimal graphical support - it's mostly a top-down world map with pictures as descriptives. I believe there is a successful game on Steam alike to this style. The best description I can give you is the one posted in the OP of the below link. Project Page Current Website (Missing a landing site, just a forum at the moment Twitter Quintessentially, I'm simply looking for a hand to pick at the current 106 outstanding tasks (Though, this does increase as the project advances). As for as to why to work on this project... once it reaches a decent level, I believe it could attract a decent playerbase. It'd be nice to have somebody to enjoy that with, on the built-up level.
  11. Just to add my two pennies of experience, I started out as an ideas guy. I had an idea for a game, it was glorious. But I couldn't do graphics, or program - and nobody wants to work for an ideas guy. Nobody. The ideas guy is the kid in school that during group cant and wont do anything, and expects the rest of the group to share the reward of the project with him because he said "Let's make a project." So I started doing my own graphics, and they were ATROCIOUS. Seriously, they're still bouncing around Eclipse somewhere. Then after a few years they got to an acceptable level. Now that I'm not an ideas guy and I can put the graft in, I started trying to team up with Programmers, and there were many, many failed attempts. Quite simply because nobody likes working for a long time for free... So I started programming, too. It was a horrible, horrible experience but after about a year and a few failed projects, I was able to do the basics and a bit. And now I'm working and programming and pixeling and making graphics for my own project, the latest of about 15 failed attempts over the years, with a solid base and it's been going for a good near-year, but it's still pretty much the same concept of that first game I wanted to make 11 years ago.

  14. @PhenomenalDev you should be able to make your own races now. Check out Fauna, or whatever I called the animals sunflower. Humans have a sentient tag and some bits about biomass and settlements. I'm sure I made a dwarf species that only settle in mountains at one point. And what do you mean by all races are all genders?

  16. Because I'm a total noob. Ivery been programming for years, but it's just a hobby. The engine has no gfx system, so it struggles with loading pictures into picture boxes. I dread to think how it handles drawing to screen Ideally the game would be a top down multilayer game, I can pixel for it, just not program for it.

  20. There's not much content, as in, even to work properly, but that's fixable by making some text files in the right folders. All/Most content is text file driven, so it's easy to plug in and out different types of items, resources, food, creatures, etc.
  21. I'm aiming for a release on this forum on Saturday Morning. Failing that, Saturday Night. I'd suggest subscribing to this thread for alerts as to when it's released.
  22. The AI now filters messages by recent/mundane/about me/about the player! Categories are in! The player can now tell the AI about things - and it even adds different options depending on if there is a mutual person. ie. "I want to tell you something... [next page] ... about your wife..." I'm considering doing a release so I can get some feedback on bugs and suggestions - anybody interested?
