Can I use a github pages website?

I wanted to make the game update automatically, so I don't have to keep sending out new files to people, but I didn't know how to. I know it has something to do with putting in a website URL for the Json text but how do you do that. I already have a website set up but do I just need to make a page with the Json file?

I was going to make my server public but before I did I wanted to know: On the docs it says the server will auto port forward but if I want other people to connect to my server do I need to do anything else?
