It's important where you place your resources too, because those are clearely a part of the map, and can give a good or a bad aspect.

Random positioning elements in a 2D scene which aims to be non realistic, is bad.

Imagine having a Title, Subtitle and a Paragraph, the Subtitles are the resources, if you make the subtitle too big or close to the size of the Title, then it's in conflict with the Title, if it's too small or close to the Paragraph's size, then it's in conflict, again, also, if everything is taking the correct hierarchy level, then make sure they are in rapport with eachother, else you got a bad map.

 

What I said above and in previous replies, doesn't apply only to Mapping, applies everywhere, in paintings, drawings, all kind of designs from posters to web designs.
