Is there a way to move the GUI/Interface Items. Such as the chat window and spell bar?

Hello All, My friend and I are collaborating on a 2d ORPG. I am designing the maps and sprites and such, and he is doing the questing and all that. We are having trouble syncing our games so that both of our updates are there? As of right now we are losing either mine or his work a lot of the time. Any tips or Tricks?
