Playable Orake Classic [RELEASE]

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I'm proud to announce that a new team has taken over Orake. If you are not familiar with the game, it is a free-to-play 2D tile-based MMORPG originally released in 2016 that was made on the Eclipse engine (a 21 year old engine at this point that functions similarly to Intersect's engine). It has similar skill-based progression to games like RuneScape. Since then, it has undergone many improvements, but began to decline. In 2018, it became the possession of another owner who tried to make the game popular again, but that also didn't work out. Now, a team of veteran players who care about the game immeasurably and did not want to let it die have purchased the rights and want to get it back on the map!

Story: You start as an adventurer in the Collapse. You must escape by going through the Knight's encampment and face your treacherous nightmares. After being reborn, your adventure begins in the city of Aracia, a lively town where you can discover quests and mingle among the townsfolk to learn more about how to navigate through the game. Just north is the Boneyard, where player-vs-player combat is activated. You create your own playstyle in the game with 14 skills to train to become powerful enough again to destroy the Gods and maybe even the Orake.

Currently, we are in the process of fixing a large number of bugs that have existed even since its original release and generally optimizing the game to fit our standards and those that players expect. We will be putting membership back in to its previous state as well as purchasable world blesses that grant bonus experience for an hour at decreased prices. Our first big goal for this game is to release the content already made but was never released . Another goal is to get the game remade into a sequel using the same dark fantasy style assets in Unity!

We want to invite any players interested in such a game to join our discord to keep themselves updated with our progress. We expect to re-release the game in a few weeks on Steam. We have very high hopes for the game, we are very responsive to suggestions and have many of our own ideas for the game that have been festering for months or years in our minds.

Thank you for reading!

The steam page has some pretty heated reviews from the past, is there a particular reason you kept the game on the same page as the old one rather than releasing it as a new product?

not any good reason lol, i guess after the last owner deleted the old discord, we didn't want to lose any more community stuff. now we're hoping that people will post positive reviews and change old negative ones to positive if they are enjoying the game now and appreciate all the work we've done and are still doing. so, the recent reviews will be positive at least lol. either way, the sequel would be separate from this and we'll have a clean slate to properly assess what we need to improve, and for players to judge us and not previous owners.

The Easter event is here! The event will last for one week. Please get the newest Steam/itch.io update for some of the new assets. Speak to the Easter Bunny in Aracia for more information and to be warped to the event.

Easter Egg Hunt

• Begin the hunt by warping to the Bunny Caverns via the Easter Bunny. You must find your way to through the maze there to accept the quest start and then go on an expedition to find all 10 eggs!

• Hint: The first egg is in the Caverns, but the rest are scattered throughout Orake in maps accessible to all. Mind you, this will be no easy task to do on your own.

• After completing the hunt, you will be granted permanent access to the Poison Mushroom Leader's Pet Token shop where various unique items can be purchased, including one of the strongest "pets" in Orake!

The Wabbit King

• Every 12 hours, the Wabbit King appears in the Bunny Caverns to check on its subjects.

• When defeated, it will drop various useful event items as well as trigger an additive 50% World Blessing!

• (Additive means that if there is a World Blessing, this will stack on top of it. For example, if you activate a 30% Bless before killing the King, everyone will receive a grand total of 80% bonus XP for one hour!)

Stay home, stay safe, and happy holidays!

Looking forward to trying this, I've missed Eclipse games in my life.

What's it like trying to bugfix that engine? I can't imagine a long term project with it.

to be honest it's a chore and continues to be, but we have made some great progress with it and have fixed some rather major bugs, added some great QoL, and new features! :D

It was really cool to see it on steam but the game doesn't really have any art direction or consistent color scheme so i was kinda turned off
