Story Today I did this on my project...

I'm in the process of designing and printing a 3D tabletop board game for my family and coworkers at Lego. My most recent addition would be the new "water" tiles that imo look gorgeous. I may in the future pitch this to my higher ups at Lego and if it doesn't take, I may end up starting a Kickstarter for distribution of the tiles (with or without studs) or the entire board game, making our own miniatures instead of using Legos. Currently the game plays similar to Heroscape of old, with some (in my mind) positive changes to the formula. I've busted out my old Lego collection and have currently designed and balanced a ton of Star Wars units. My baby bro is enjoying himself immensely haha.

One of the coolest features of this design is that the tiles fit snug to eachother, even when stacking, but are easy to take apart. Also, due to the lock-in design of the tiles, once a board is complete, you can actually lift the entire thing, spin it on your finger, and place it back down to find none of the pieces have fallen off. The build is strong and durable, with even a car tire doing very little damage to the tiles when placed down, and yet remains light and unobtrusive. Needless to say if it were to fall off your table, you wouldn't need to be worried about chipping, denting, or cracking.

My 7 year old brother has a blast building new maps to play on, and once I print off some more tiles, larger and more impressive boards are sure to follow.

All in all, I'm having a large amount of fun on this project, and even if it goes nowhere, I'm sure my family and I will be enjoying the game throughout the holidays. Once I get a good stockpile of tiles set up, I'll be willing to sell some tiles to any tabletop/lego enthusiasts at cost of production + shipping. If you were interested, shoot me a pm in a few weeks, but really this project is mostly for my family and friends.

Rip my double post, but today I made one of my favorite maps/boards so far with the hex system. I call it:

The Great Tree

The Lego Tree is locked in place in the center with a Lego support piece that I tried to blend into the map by covering it with that Palm Tree piece.

New Sand and Lava colors for the board game. Also a new tile design that is 3 tiles high, but obviously I'm gonna have to fix something on that one haha.

In Life Forge I added a 2 new mounts, some new items, and a new boss with a unique item required to reach it's lair:

I also added Lord of the Rings units to the board game lol. It's very fun so far.

Spent most of today doing bug fixes and balancing for Nightmare however today I finally got to do some mapping! (which some of you guys know I enjoy the most out of game dev aha).

@SkywardRiver noticed we forgot to make a tunnel connecting the Storm Desert up to the Fire Fang clan den so I got to map it (yay). Not particularly groundbreaking development or special but I'm happy I got to map (if you guys can't tell) so I decided to post it:

@Murdoc will probably have a lot more interesting things to show than me today aha.

Started working on a backdrop for my upcoming game dev live stream. Gonna be taking all my favorite album arts and turning them into hand drawn posters hung next to their vinyl albums.

Just finished implementing the Updater for our project so our artists can see their work ingame in almost real time.

As I've been a bit sick with a cold, spent some time improving the southern cut off cliffs (See the difference for yourself!):

And added the bridge for the second zone, with it's own shiny z-dimension mapped!
