Thanks for the advice, I do actually plan on diversifying it quite a bit later on when I create maps such as deserts, swamps, etc. A large majority of the tiles I have created myself while a few I've had commissioned.

I think you need more diversity within your tiles. A lot of your maps look quite plain. Did you make the graphics yourself? Best of luck

For variables that are yes and no it's better to just use a True/False switch to keep things simple. Instead of HasBook = 1 or 0 you can just have it as HasBook = True or False.

For the scenario you're doing, It'd be best to have it like:
    Talking to the chief
      >Conditional Branch
           >HasBook = False
                >ConditionalBranch
                   >ChiefGivenItems = False
                      >here are some items, etc
                           >Set ChiefGivenItems = True
                   >ChiefGivenItems = True
                      >'you should go look for that book'
           >HasBook = True
              >Conditonal Branch
                  >QuestComplete = False
                      >Conditional Branch
                          >QuestStarted = False
                                >give quest
                                    >Set QuestStarted to True
                          >QuestStarted = True
                             >repeat quest instructions
                  >QuestComplete = True
                       >good job, go do this now, etc

    Bookshelf
        >Conditional Branch
            >QuestStarted = False
               >You don't find anything worth reading
            >QuestStarted = True
                 >Conditional Branch
                      >HasBook = False
                         >You find a book on the shelf!
                             >Set HasBook to True
                      >HasBook = True
                         >You don't find anything worth reading

    Questing Added!
    December 29th 2016

    News/Updates
So over the past few weeks I've graduated college and I have endured the Christmas holiday (mainly unscathed). Now that things have calmed down a little I have a few Intersect updates to share, solely, that the quest system has been completed. So without further ado, here is the system

Each quest can have any number of tasks

Quests have events that can be ran when quests are started, ended, or when tasks are completed:

Tasks include killing npcs, gathering items, and interacting with events

Event driven tasks can handle all kinds of objectives like reaching a map, talking to a npc, solving a puzzle, leveling up, logging in X times, etc, etc

Quests can be started via Events

You can choose for the player to have the option of accepting or you can force a quest onto them

The client has a cool quest log

There are some features not shown. Obviously event conditions have been expended to include quest options such as checking to see if a quest can be started, if its in progress, if its been completed, or if its on or past a certain task. Your whole game world can change and bend based on the quests a player has accomplished.

You have a whole event that gets ran when a quest ends. You can use that event to give the player items, warp them, set event switches and a whole lot more. Using events allows this system to be really powerful and we hope you all use it to it's full potential

    Whats next?
Make sure to check out the Intersect Road Map as for what features we have next planned in line! We are going to be fixing all reported bugs and then getting another release out to you all. After that we are going to explore adding multi-language support to Intersect and going from there.

As always, feel free to post comments and questions below! We are excited to hear your thoughts on our progress!

    Greetings!

My name is Raeven, I'm a spanish YouTuber, writer and community administrator for www.ccaenter.es
Last year I published Tierras Robadas: La Roca del Destino, a project of mine which took way too many years to complete. Since always me and the few guys who followed the project wanted to make an online game about our universe, but we never found any 2D or 3D engine which satisfied us. Until we found Intersect, of course.

Even in it's alpha stage I absolutely fell in love with the mapping system and the general stable feel of it and three days ago we started the project. We don't know yet how customizable it is, as we'd like to add some custom programmed stuff in the future. For now we'll start our work with custom graphics - we'd like to make it feel more like a graphical novel than an anime-pixelart-fest, hence this style someone may find strange. In the future we'd like to update both this post and our own on the CCA Entertainment site so both communities see our progress. As I previously said, we'd like to launch the game on Steam (we already have a Greenlight license, with one project approved!), if we ever do so I'd like to give a small % of our earnings to the development of the engine as gratitude for your work.

We'd appreciate any feedback or even contributions - if you're an artist, want to help with the programming stuff or any kind of material, just PM me.

    Features planned:
    · Rich story based on the novel
    · Huge explorable world, with puzzles and rewarding content
    · Deep PVE progression
    · Weekly/Monthly content updates
    · Oldschool hardcore feel, inspired by the original Everquest

Some updated screenshots of work we've done so far:

    Parties and Crafting Added!
    November 3rd 2016

    News/Updates
Its been a while since we've posted one of these however, we're out of the dark and back with features for you guys. This update I'm happy to announce the completion of Parties and Crafting. Lets start with parties, a player can select a player and click invite to party like so:

A message prompt will be sent to the recipient like so:

After accepting, by opening the party menu you can see who is in your party alongside their health bars, leaving the party and kicking a member of the party if you're the leader.

The first person to send the invite to the party will be the leader and only the leader can invite other members. Experience will be shared between the number of members within the party. e.g. if there are 3 members in the party each member will receive 1/3 of the experience.

Now, on to crafting. Benches can be accessed via events, where you state which bench you wish to open. Different benches will allow for different crafts, per say your anvil will craft different things than your alchemy set.

You can create different recipes with a dynamic amount of ingredients:

There is also a variable craft timer used for the delay whilst crafting said item in game as shown below:

    Whats next?
Make sure to check out the Intersect Road Map as for what features we have next planned in line! We will be working for the next several days on performance improvements, and many many bug fixes.

I mean, if a game has altered source code that's the prerogative of the developers for it, but it's not like the engine is going to be perfect at "2.0", there will always be more improvements that JC can make, and maybe he will even want to make major changes.

It's not like because a game that was designed for Unreal 3 had source modifications that Epic shouldn't have made Unreal 4 because not all of their games could be automatically updated like games that didn't change the source.

Basically, this seems like a totally useless debate and I'm not sure why you're trying to declare something finished at a specific version number when you don't even have control authority over the source code, and it's not even released yet. :/

Not too sure what you're asking here. The quest editor will allow more advanced quests alongside making them faster and being fully integrated within the event editor. Fundamentally you will still be able to make a quest with just the event editor however we plan for the addition of quest logs on the client UI. Only quests made within the quest editor will display in this quest log.

    ^ This guy gets me.

Edit: I also have something called a job and I have projects there that need updates/development and that also cuts into Intersect time. Season 6 ending will help a lot.. but ending this semester and graduating college should help a lot more

    Logic.

Bad thing is that you can't just listen to one song, you gotta listen to all of them, in order, because it tells a story.  Lucky for you I posted the whole playlist above. Enjoy.

Actually almost no progress has been made for several weeks. Kibz and I are currently prioritizing more important aspects of our life and we will get back to Intersect whenever we can.

We actually do have a Suggestion/Bug Tracker. For the moment bugs are weighted a lot more than suggestions. You will generally see all bugs wiped out with each release of Intersect.
    http://www.ascensiongamedev.com/community/bug_tracker/intersect/

Progress towards beta has been made. Kibz has started on parties, and trading and has hit a snag with multi-threading that I will need to look into at some point. He has also completely added a crafting system that was originally unplanned. We already have a quest editor designed but that design was done before the event system was created. So once I get back to it I will be re-working the quest editor so it's easier to use and works well with event conditions, variables and switches.

Here is a sneak peak of the first iteration that was created forever ago:

If only I still had the video. I made an absolutely awful anime fan game. The worst part about it is it was it was a huge combination of whatever tilesets I could find and nothing matched. If I ever find the video or screenshots I'll post it here.
