I knew the name "Rory" in game was you, just knew it. Played PPO for about 3-4 months, what a small world.

On-topic: The UI looks fantastic, remember when the project had little to nothing to show, you are making big leaps and bounds now!

The concern with copyright issues is definitely legitimate, it's all a very fine line between what can be considered parody and plagiarism. On one end, a heavily inspired ninja game clearly on the safe side is Ninja Saga and then you have games clearly not on the safe side and flat on plagiarizing like Naruto Spirit which recently closed down due to the lack of players (because Viz made an official competitor to their game, Naruto Online, a Facebook game)

Nin Online sits on the thin line between the two, we borrow more heavily from the Naruto series with a few monumental locations and the Village Symbols.
Other than that, none of the content is bothered by copyright infringement and trademarks as all the art, music and characters are original.
If we ever do receive a C&D from Viz, we have a backup plan to remove the symbols and a few other changes that will place us on the safe side of the law.

Thanks for all the comments and concerns guys!

I like how much thought you've already given that and a game plan in case of interference. Good job

Hi everyone, just wanted to spread the word about our game moving out of alpha and into beta stage (after 3 years).

The entire team is working around the clock trying to make sure phasing into beta goes as smoothly as possible. Which is why we've decided it will be best to soft-launch it over the coming month. So we hope that you guys can return to help us test and make sure everything is good before we open it to the public and start advertising the game to the rest of the world.

With all these new features coming, we hope you continue to support the game we have and will continue to be pouring so much time and effort into in the following weeks. We hope to see you when we relaunch in Closed Beta!

Just an idea I thought about, a lot of times music is designed to suit a time of day just as much as a certain environment.
Like a village could be very happy in the morning, but a little bit peaceful and quiet, or even dark and mysterious at night.

It would be a cool addition if you could set maps to have different music based on time of day!

Hey! This is really great how dynamic it is.
What about letting you set a repeatable image overlay like what I do for Nin

    Day
    Night

It might have some difficulty working with the dynamic lights you guys have though! Just an idea!

Also, Dawn and Dusk are normally represented more accurately with a Orangey hue and Purplish hue respectively

Awesome! Also, maybe make a gradient hue option to simulate Rory's post with the purple to reddish sky reflecting on the ground?
Another suggestion would be adding a tile attribute to change from outdoors to indoors and vice versa so people don't have to make new maps for indoors if they don't want to.
I'll still have my indoors on other maps, but some people prefer to make their houses on the same map as the overworld.

No point in debating what VB6 is and what VB6 is not. Use it if you'd like but if you want questions answered or you want programming help it's going to be a lot harder to find someone willing to help you and deal with that language/ide.

I'm actually recreating the systems and objects I've used with the Skywyre event system in Intersect right now for my Raid on Valkoria project. So thrilled JC is supporting converting database objects to newer revisions as he releases updates.... this and the fact that global server-side variables are implemented and working with the event system already was the main reason I chose to switch (and the obvious reason being VB6 is shit). My BASIC is much more fluent then my C# though, but meh.... it'll grow in time   I appreciate the work you guys have put into this engine so much!
