I'm running Beta 1.0 because every time I try and unzip the 3.1 it says theres an error. Any help with this?

So I'm new to intersect and have A LOT to learn. First thing I'd like to tackle is the map editor. Where in sams heck can I find where I can upsize this map? I'd like to do it like rpg maker where you can just have whatyever size map you'd like! Would love the ability to parallax in here considering all the coding for a action based system instead of the Final Fantasy pop-up battles that take you away from the map.
