Error Description

EDITED:

Quick overview: Unfortunately events freeze and others don't. On 4.9.1, in my game's starting area, an event would teleport the player out, now it doesn't. Though, when killed players get teleported to the Underworld, and that warp still works in B5.

What happenned: After migrating from 4.9.1 to B5, many events (common & on-map) just stopped fully working(parts of them run and the rest don't).

What I tried: Move the "Commands"  around to try and find out what get's stuck.

What I found out: The event runs nothing below "Play Animation" EXCEPT it does run "Take: Item The Book Of Life".

*See my reply to Jc for further details..

@Xeno Games: Not enough info. There is /something/ different about the warps that do not work. Are they migrated or created under B5? Are they events or map attributes? There are no replication steps. Find a simple way for me to reproduce the bug and ill fix it.

They are migrated, but I tried to make a new similar event that warps and it does the same(won't fully work).

They are events(common and on-map).

It is REALLY hard to explain, but I tried my best. The original post has been edited.

@Xeno Games: Much better. I’m thinking that it might be related to your other report:

https://www.ascensiongamedev.com/bug_tracker/intersect/items-giventaken-successfully-not-working-r1421/

Even if it’s not related, I’m wondering what the absolute simplest reproduction case would be. For example, if you remove the hold/release does it still break? What about the animation and chatbox text? Does the warp work if all of that is there but the item command is gone?

I now have enough information to work with, but answering the questions above could save myself/Kibz/panda a lot of time when it comes to fixing this.

In fact it is. The other report was an on-map event called "Revive". Since it wouldn't work, I made a similar copy of it as a COMMON event called "Underworld Ressurect", with pretty much the same results, unfortunatly.

Short answer is: Yes.

When I keep the "hold", players get stuck in place forever and the event breaks. When I remove the "hold", players aren't stuck in place forever but the event still breaks.

What about the animation and chatbox text?

For the animation: Does the same but doesn't play the animation (obviously won't).

For the chatbox text: Does the same also but doesn't show any chatbox text (obviously won't).

Short answer is: Yes!

Player's get warped. But they instantly get warped back and this message is shown since they cannot leave the Underworld with a book of life on them(the event is supposed to take it).

But that is all normal.

OTHER THING I NOTICED:

While on the quest task: "Use the book", if players lose the book and grab another, the quest task "Use the book" becomes completed...

So, it looks to me like it's the "Item Taking" command?

@Xeno Games:  In each of your events that are broken, do they all have Spawn/Execution conditions that rely on the items you are taking?

B4.X was broken.

In B5, the moment the Spawn/Execution conditions are not met the event terminates which is probably why the warp is never happening.

If I'm right, the solution would be to remove the spawn/execution condition and then change your event so the first thing it does is check for the book.

Please let me know if this clears things up.

Hey jc, I thought events simply didn't run at all if conditions we're not met?

But to answer you those events have no conditions they run as soon as told to (they're told to run by another event).

BUT, if I get what you're saying... the map trigger that runs this common event is ran when a player has at least 1 of Book Of Life... are you saying that once the event takes the book, it stops running the rest since the player doesn't have a book anymore?

That would mean that the "take 1 book" command would have to be ran at the end?

Imma try to see if that's it when I get home but if that's the problem please do lemme know. (It would make sense to stop the event but I think it was better in b4, since it means it HAS to be a common event since a map event would warp a player and not take the book at the end)

Yup.. if having the book is an execution requirement then it will stop executing the event immediately once the book is gone.. that explains just about everything and while that behavior was always intended it was always broken before now.
